1. 2011, in dumb survey form (oh, livejournal, i miss you)

    1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?

Got a real freaking job! Full time, permanent, PENSION, all that jazz.
Moved in with my manfriend. Or rather, he moved in with me.
    Played on a softball team!

    2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

New Year’s Resolutions suck and no one actually keeps them. I didn’t make any and I won’t for next year. There are things I would like to do more of next year, though: exercise, make things, travel.

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My cousin gave birth, but we’re not really close. Haven’t even seen the baby yet!

    4. Did anyone close to you die?

    No.

    5. What places did you visit?

Seattle, WA. Portland, OR. San Jose, CA. San Franciso, CA. Santa Cruz, CA. Berkeley, CA. Mountain View, CA. Redding, CA. Humbug Mountain State Park, OR. Kelowna, BC. Courtenay, BC. Toronto, ON. Buffalo, NY. Medina, NY.

    6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?

More financial freedom. More travel. More time to sew.

    7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

That’s not really how my memory works.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

    Real freaking job!

    9. What was your biggest failure?

Honestly, I think I did pretty okay this year. I felt pretty bad about not being able to fill up the bag last time I donated blood.

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I had to have an apicoectomy due to an infected root of one of my teeth. A few panic attacks this summer, and I still have a weird spot on my leg from when I got hit super hard with a softball.

    11. What was the best thing you bought?

    Xbox. And lots of fabric.

    12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Evan. Maddy. Genevieve. Alyssa. Lots of people!

    13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Most people who work at UBC Library.

    14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent, FOOD, student loans, travel, Christmas. And my IUD cost a good chunk of change.

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Coming home for Christmas, actually. It was so wonderful to be able to spend such a nice long time here.

    16. What songs will always remind you of 2010?

The whole Spirit of Eden album by Talk Talk.

    17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    i. happier or sadder? Happier.
    ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? More debt, but at least I have a real job now.

    18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

    More bikes. More friends.

    19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

    Worrying.

    20. How will you be spending Christmas?

This year I actually went to Evan’s family’s place and met the in-laws. Scary! But they were very nice.

    22. Did you fall in love in 2011?

No, but I stayed in love so that was nice.

    23. How many one-night stands?

    None.

    24. What was your favorite TV program?

Discovered my love for Doctor Who this year.

    25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

    No.

    26. What was the best book you read?

I am so bad at remembering these when it comes to the end of the year round up. I really enjoyed Storm of Swords, despite George R. R. Martin being George R. R. Martin.

    27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

    Hmm, Talk Talk?

    28. What did you want and get?

A real job! New friends. Lots of sewing supplies and books for Christmas.

    29. What did you want and not get?

I was hoping someone would give me 1Q84 for Christmas, but I realized that I didn’t actually tell anyone that.

    30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Oh jeez, I have no idea.

    31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Pretty sure Evan and I just went out for dinner. I turned 26.

    32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

    More sleep.

    33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?

Lots of cardigans. Now that I’m buying lots of fabric, it is clear to me that I want to dress like a librarian in in the 70s.

    34. What kept you sane?

Evan, especially all the times he got me to stop worrying.

    35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Matt Smith, despite the fact that he has weird eyebrows.

    36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Talking about politics will just make me sad.

    37. Who do you miss?

Amy! Maddy, Emma. Jeff in NYC. Everyone who keeps moving away.

    38. Who was the best new person you met?

    Probably Reagan!

    39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011

    Things work out.

    40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Do you know how hard it is for me to actually hear lyrics?
